$- 2 (s - 7) > 4 s + 8$ $-2(s-7)>4s+8$

Expand,

$- 2 s + 14 > 4 s + 8$ $-2s+14>4s+8$

Simplify,

$6 > 6 s$ $6>6s$

Solve,

$s < 1$ $s<1$

Convert to interval notation,

$s \in (- \infty, 1)$ $s in (-oo,1)$
