The overall current in the circuit increases.

Explanation:

If each lamp is the same type, each has the same current going thru it. That is because they each have the same voltage across them (when the circuit has only parallel connections).

With the same current, #I#, thru each bulb, if you add one more bulb it will also draw that same current: #I#. Assume that originally, there were 5 bulbs in the circuit. In that case, the overall circuit current would have been #5*I#. So after adding another bulb, the overall circuit current would be #6*I#.
