It can make the rocks look different by basically beating up the rocks and chipping. it like the grand canyon there was a river running through it and little by little it started digging down and on sides.

Weathering can wear down rocks by basically chipping little by little away from the rock. Weathering can also create cracks or expand cracks by water gathering and freezing and when it freezes it expands making the crack bigger.
