WWI

Explanation:

WWI created a vicious cycle of worsening poverty and casualties in Russia. It created resentment against the establishment and people took the opportunity to rebel. Russia was still an autocracy ruled by Tsar Nicholas I. He was an absolute monarch and Bolsheviks were communists who contested his authority. Russia suffered a tremendous amount of losses due to its being used as a human reservoir by its allies-France and Great Britain.

Germany helped the rebels and Lenin himself was a German agent. Bolsheviks were also financed by bankers in Wall Street like Jacob Schiff. They wanted to get rid of the last Christian Empire to impose their yoke. This contribution was denounced by Anthony Sutton in his book "Wall Street and the Bolshevik Revolution".
