Surgery is usually the most effective approach to treat benign tumors.

Explanation:

Benign tumors do not invade nearby tissues or spread to other parts of the body the way cancer can. However, they can pose a problem if they press on vital blood vessels or nerves. Thus some benign tumors need no treatments. Most benign tumors do not respond to chemotherapy or radiation therapy.

Benign inter cranial tumors may be treated with radiation therapy and chemotherapy under certain circumstances. In case of benign skin tumors treatments like cryotherapy, curettage, laser therapy, chemical peels and topical medication can also be used for treatment. For treating adenomas of the rectum, chemicals are used to shrink blood vessels in order to cut off the blood supply.
