Differentiated cells in plants do not divide.

Explanation:

The cells in meristematic tissues only can divide. The differentiated cells loose the power of cell division.

The growth of stem is due to the cell division taking place in apical meristem in shoot apex.

Similarly the growth of root occurs due to the cell division taking place in apical meristem in root apex.
