Thyroid Hormones are a bunch of hormones which are secreted from the endocrine gland, Thyroid.
It consists of Amine Hormones and Peptide Hormones.
i)Tri-iodothyronine and Tetra-iodothyronine:- These Hormones are derived from the Amino Acid Tyrosine, with Iodine attached. The number of Iodine atoms is indicated by the prefix tri- or tetra-.
These hormones control the metabolism of the whole body. They act to increase the BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate), Affect Protein Synthesis, etc. They are essential to the proper development and the heat generation to the body.
