The cerebral cortex is the superficial layer of the cerebrum in the brain.
It consists of four lobes:
- Frontal (executive function, and regulation)
- Parietal (somatosensory coordination)
- Temporal (memory, audition)
- Occipital (vision)
Its surface is convoluted as to increase the surface area in the human brain, which allows us to have more neural tissue (which translates into more processing power).
