Explanation:

That's it. Study of living things.
If you study it, and it is alive , that is biology.
Don't worry about the more complex added stuff.

Biology is the study of life.

Explanation:

Anything alive, whether that is you, your pet (if you have one), the animals around you in your area, germs, bacteria, etc. is studied by biology.

There are many branches of biology, but the major ones I'd say are

  • Zoology, study of life

  • Botany, study of plant life

  • Cell biology, study of cells

  • Biochemistry, study of chemical processes in living things
