How do you evaluate #\frac { 6} { 8} + \frac { 3} { 3} #?

#3/3# is one whole one

#6/8=3/4# when you cancel down

so #6/8 +3/3 =3/4 +1=1 3/4#

If you are adding fractions they must have the same denominator

#6/8+3/3=18/24+24/24=42/24=21/12=7/4=1 3/4#

First, simplify the #6/8#, it becomes #3/4#
#3/3=1# as #x/x# is always #1# no matter what(I think!)

You get

#1+3/4=1 3/4#

Which is #1 + 0.75#

#1.75#
