Explanation:

I would move all the y terms to the left of the equal sign and the rest to the right of it, so you have y expressed with x and the constant, like this:
#y=5x-3x+1=2x+1#
Then you can either use a program like Geogebra (which is free) or make a table of x and y values and plot it on a graph paper. As this is a first degree graph (x and y is of the 1st degree), you only need two points on the graph, for instance y=1 when x=0, x=-1/2 when y=0.
