Is evolution something you "believe in" or is it scientific?

Evolution is not something that you "believe" in. This would mean that evolution is faith based. Evolution is a scientific idea, and scientific ideas rely on empirical evidence!

Explanation:

Evolution is considered to be a scientific fact. One may choose to accept or not accept the evidence which illustrates how life has changed on our planet in the last 3.5 billion years.

There is a huge amount of evidence that supports the scientific concept of evolution. The fossil record, similarities in DNA and proteins across species, biogeography, observed natural selection in bacteria leading to antibiotic resistance, the body of evidence is continually being added to...

The climate of Earth has also changed over time. Some areas which were once shallow seas are now deserts, once example being Wadi Al-Hitan in Egypt where many of the fossils which reveal the evolutionary development of whales were discovered. The whale provides an interesting case study in evolution because whales are descended from mammals that once lived in land.

Here is a video which discusses additional examples of evidence of evolution.

Hope this helps!

Evolution is a scientific theory that is based on assumptions that must be believed.

Explanation:

There is evidence for evolution this evidence is interpreted on the assumptions that everything happens by natural causes, occurring in slow uniform processes.

The Darwinian theory of evolution of descent with modification requires that life started with a simple cell and has increased in complexity and information totally by natural causes.

There is no direct evidence that any random natural process can result in the increase of complexity. All empirical evidence is that information always moves from the complex to the simple. Bacteria gain resistance to antibiotics by losing information on the DNA. The horse fossil sequence is that the complex four toed horses become simpler one toed horses.

There is indirect evidence of Darwin's theory, comparative anatomy fossils evidence. Some of the evidence used to support Darwinian evolution has been invalidated, such as Hackel's embryology , and the Miller Urey experiments. However much evidence remains in favor of the theory. Darwinian evolution is a scientific theory

The decision to accept the evidence for evolution or to accept the evidence against the theory often comes down to a matter of belief in the assumption the theory is based on. Darwinian evolution is a scientific theory that must be accepted by faith.
