We tend to create bias in our thoughts to add the stability of patterns to our lives.

Explanation:

Our brains form patterns. They look for them, whether they exist or not. This is helpful when there are patterns and they help us to learn. They are disadvantageous when we form biases or create delusions.

This is evident in things like the “Anchor Price” technique in negotiating, and the development of many cultural and racial prejudices. It is reinforced by a tendency (bias) to then look for and only remember other supporting observations. That is how “news” reporting moved from a factual observation to a distorted propaganda enterprise.
