You must be careful about the weight you consider!

Explanation:

It is not the weight of the object but the weight of the liquid that is displaced by the object!
In fact you can think of a brick of iron...it sinks because it is not displacing enough water to produce an upward lift to maintain it afloat.
Now if you work your iron to form a hollow sphere (bigger volume) it will displace a lot of water producing a upward lift sufficient to make it float!!!
