The highlited portion tells use that Glucose and Mannose are C2 epimers while Glucose and Galactose are C4 epimers.

Epimers are a subtype of diastereomers - molecules that contain more than 1 chiral center and differ in their absolute configuration on at least 1 chiral center. Which basically means, the chiral center where each molecule differs is where their absolute configuration is opposite that of the other pair; every other chiral center has the same absolute configuration.
