Hexan-1-ol will be more soluble in water.


The polar #"OH"# group in each alcohol is hydrophilic, but the nonpolar hydrocarbon chains are hydrophobic.

The two effects oppose each other.

I wouldn’t expect either alcohol to be very soluble.

However, hexan-1-ol should be more soluble because it has a shorter hydrocarbon chain to oppose the solution process.
