Mostly World War 1.

Explanation:

The Versailles Treaty punished Germany too severely and moderate Germans could not take Germany into recovery. Extremists took over(Nazis). The treaty could have decreased colonialism in the world and given Independence to many lesser Nations. Instead Imperialism increased. Extremism and Nationalism grew.

The Empires that were destroyed by the end of the First World War were transformed in part into Ideological blocs that were on a collision course to conflict. The bitterness caused by World War 1 fed the anger between the Nations and Ideologies.
