# Question 15eb7

Feb 11, 2017

0.8

#### Explanation:

Write as: 10; 2; 0.8; 888.96

1 decimal place is counting in tenths
2 decimal places is counting in hundredths

So 888.96 is the same as $888 + \frac{9}{10} + \frac{6}{100}$

Also 0.8 is the same as $\frac{8}{10}$

Writing them again we have:

10;" "2;" "8/10;" "888+9/10+6/100

The 888 part of $888 + \frac{9}{10} + \frac{6}{100}$ is so large in comparison to the others that the decimal part is of no consequence

Write as 10;" "2;" "8/10;" "888#

Clearly the least value is $\frac{8}{10} = 0.8$

Not good practice to use the word 'smallest'. I do not wish to confuse you so I will not go into the reason why this is the case.
