1 decimal place is counting in tenths
2 decimal places is counting in hundredths

So 888.96 is the same as #888+9/10+6/100#

Also 0.8 is the same as #8/10#

Writing them again we have:

The 888 part of #888+9/10+6/100# is so large in comparison to the others that the decimal part is of no consequence

Write as #10;" "2;" "8/10;" "888#

Clearly the least value is #8/10=0.8#

Not good practice to use the word 'smallest'. I do not wish to confuse you so I will not go into the reason why this is the case.
