Explanation:

The empirical formula is the simplest WHOLE number ratio representing constituent atoms in a species. We know, or should know, that the formula of glucose is #C_6H_12O_6#, and I divide this thru by #6#, I get the empirical formula #CH_2O#, which is the same simplest whole number ratio. The #"molecular formula"# is always a multiple of the #"empirical formula"#.
