(1) when $S = 7$ straight angles

then

$7 = \left(n - 2\right)$

$\implies n = 9$

(2) when $S = 8 \text{ right angles" = 4 " straight angles}$

then

$4 = \left(n - 2\right)$

$\implies n = 6$
