The acidic character is defined by the ability to create ${H}^{+}$.
You may have heard of the term pH, which is a scale how acidic a solution is. This scale is purely based on the concentration of ${H}^{+}$ ions in your solution.
So if you have a lot of ${H}^{+}$ ions in a small volume, it will be very acidic (with a low pH). The pH scale is showed in the figure below.
