That is because RNA forms polypeptide chains i.e proteins

Explanation:

Proteins form an integral part of every living cell on this planet. Proteins have a huge variety of shape, size and function.Every task in the cell is directly or indirectly related to some or the other protein.

Executing a task in a cell is much like retrieving information from a database.DNA acts as a storehouse of information from where information is first coded into RNA and this RNA directs the production of proteins meant for that specific purpose.

This method is very effective as the proteins produced perform only and only a specific function no matter what. Also RNA is safer as it is similar to DNA in structure and thus thermally and chemically very stable. Also directly encoding DNA into proteins is not possible as it is time consuming and inefficient.
