Viroids are the smallest infectious pathogens known..

Explanation:

Viroids are small, circular, single stranded molecules of infectious RNA lacking even a protein coat.

The free RNA present in these viroids are reported as the the main infectious agent.

They are the cause of a few plant diseases such as Potato spindle-tuber disease, cucumber pale fruit and cadang-cadang (in coconuts).

Viroids causes only one disease in humans ; which is Hepatitis D.

Virod which was first discovered was Potato Spindle tuber viroid ( in short PSTV ) which causes diseases in potatoes.

PSTV is a circular RNA molecule , causes diseases in potatoes .
