As, a force of `250 N` is enough to lift the weights up,we can say in this process work is being done by the `250 N` as it is causing a displacement of `1.5 m`

So,work done by the man in lifting the weight up is `250*1.5=375 N`

This work is being done to supply the required amount of potential energy gain by the weights to be at a height of `1.5 m` above the ground.
