Are atoms and molecules the same things?

I am out of my turf here but I would say no.

Explanation:

If I remember correctly molecules are formed by atoms (such as water that is a molecule made up of 2 atoms of hydrogen and one of oxigen).

While an atom has a "fixed" structure of nucleus (protons+neutrons) and electron cloud the molecule is formed by atoms sometimes of different types but all of them with the same structure (varying in number of protons and electrons)...I think...
