Yes they are indeed moving farther apart and if the big bang theory is correct then after billions of years when it's done expanding, it will start contracting and after another billion or zillions of years later it'll become a compact supernova which will become unstable again after some time and cause a massive explosion causing the big bang theory again. You could say we're stuck in a time loop!
