So in the first reaction where we have #Br_2# and light two things will happen. First of all the C where there are two #CH_3# bonded to will split up, losing its hydrogen #H# leaving it with a +1 charge. Than #Br# will make an attack, forming a bond with the +1 charged carbon. Resulting in the following molecule:

In the second reaction we will just remove the #Br# and replace it with an an #OH# in the same place.
