# What is the valence electron configuration of sulfur?

Apr 16, 2014

The electron configuration for sulfur is:
$1 {s}^{2} 2 {s}^{2} 2 {p}^{6} 3 {s}^{2} 3 {p}^{4}$

But sulfur has 6 valence electrons, tends to have a 2- charge and forms 2 bonds. However, there are exceptions.
