Find the midline of the function...?

enter image source here
I typed in the function in mathway and found out that, the max is -0.5 and the min is -6.5 so the midline is y=-3.5.

What are the steps in simplifying this function in order to graph and find the midline?

I start by rewriting as follows

#y = (6cos(6t))/2 - 7/2#

#y= 3cos(6t) - 7/2#

To find the midline, all we need to know is our #d# value, or vertical displacement. Here the vertical displacement is #d = -7/2 = -3.5#, which is indeed our midline.

Hopefully this helps!
