For #f(x) = 2x+1# and #g(x) = x^2-7#, what is #(f*g)(2)#?

A function multiplication is found by multiplying the functions:

#(f * g)(x) = (2x + 1)(x^2 - 7) = 2x^3 + x^2 - 14x - 7#

Now, by function notation, just substitute #2# for #x#.

#(f * g)(x) = 2(2)^3 + 2^2 - 14(2) - 7 = 16 + 4 - 28 - 7 = -15#

Hopefully this helps!
