How are galaxies different from constellations?

There is a huge difference between them.


Constellations are stars that form some meaningful figure: mythological people (Hercules, Andromeda) or creatures (Cetus- sea monster), manufactured devices (Horologium - pendullum clock). The stars are not linked by anything else than human imagination.

Galaxies are system of stars, interstellar gas, dust and dark matter bound with gravitation. Galaxies are quite complex structure with many feature. For more click here.
