Irregular galaxies are those galaxies which does not have a distinct shape.
Explanation:
It is said that the irregular galaxies were once spiral and elliptical but were deformed by an uneven external gravitational force.
They contain much of gases and dust particles inside them.
Another reason for their irregularity may be that when galaxies collide or come close to one another, and their gravitational forces interact, they are not able to form symmetrical shapes.
Another yet more verified reason may be that they have not reached the stage of being symmetrical.
