The relationship light waves is no different than any other wave; the product of the wavelength and frequency is equal to the speed of the wave.


Let #lambda = # the wavelength of any wave.
Let #f = # the frequency of that wave.
Let #v = # the speed of that wave.

The relationship between these three is:

#v = lambdaf#

For light, we have special symbol, C, that we use to represent its speed. Therefore, for light, the equation becomes:

#C = lambdaf#
