How can erosion be slowed down?

Use of “anchoring plants” to hold soil, terraced farming, replanting de-forested areas, restriction of mechanized activities in “wilderness” areas.

Explanation:

People can affect erosion by how they use earth's surface.

Stripping the earth of “anchoring plants” allows much faster soil erosion. Clear-cutting forests without planting replacement plants to retain the soil will also accelerate erosion. Water run-off from residential and industrial areas can affect erosion if it is not properly controlled. “Off-track” motoring without regard to the environment often leaves a muddy, scarred landscape that erodes much more quickly than the natural cover would have allowed.

So, to reduce erosion do NOT do those things, and do the opposite to increase the stability of the land.
