How can I re-ask a question I asked a while ago that didn't get answered?

Here's what you can do.

Explanation:

The easiest way to go about doing this would be to simply post the question again.

However, if you do that, make sure to let me know so that I can delete the older version of the question, i.e. the one that did not get answered.

You can send me a note or simply @mention me in the comments section and I'll find my way from there.

Another technique you can use is to leave a comment in the comments section of the first question. This will "bump" your question to the top of the activity feed where more people can see it and possibly answer it.

Finally, you have the option of giving your question a "like". This acts as an answer request and bumps the question to the top of the activity feed. See these answers for more info on how to request an answer.

Keep in mind that you can only request an answer to a question once, so if you do that and your question goes unanswered again, you can refer to the first two options I mentioned.

So, to sum this up, you can

  • post the question again + let me know so that I can delete the first version
  • post a comment in the comments section to bump the question
  • request an answer for hitting the red heart located right next to the question

As a final note, I would suggest a reasonable approach to reposting questions. In other words, do not abuse these techniques.

If you post or bump a question two, three, or even four times and you still don't get an answer, wait awhile before doing it again or consider asking the question on another website/forum.
