Broadly speaking, pollution can be solved by either bans, limits set by governments, or voluntary measures. More recently, consumers can play a role by not supporting polluting companies and recycling more.

Pollution can be solved by either: government banning or phasing out certain activities that cause pollution or they can and often do set acceptable pollutant limits. Companies can then use technology or in some cases emissions permits to meet this law. Companies or individuals can also voluntarily reduce their pollutants before government has to impose laws. Some people are starting to boycott companies how pollute a great deal - even if the company is within its legal limit.
