Explanation:

There is a lot of evidence lipids are involved in cell signalling - Myristoylation for example.

They are involved in brain maturation (super broad term, but i'm referring to myelination.

The main functions for lipids that most people think about are:
1. Separating waters. It is never referred to it as such, but this is exactly what the lipid bilayer of a cell membrane does. This is important for producing a chemical (or electrochemical) potential across the membrane, a process which helps drive reactions.

  1. Storing energy in the form of triglyceride fats.
