Nucleic acids are polymers meaning they are made up of several small subunits called monomers. So nucleic acids are made from smaller units called nucleotides. DNA strand is formed from DNA nucleotide. RNA is formed from RNA nucleotide. As the nucleotides line up covalent bond forms between them so the run a big chain which is called nucleic acids.
