The answer is #m+2#

Explanation:

You are basically combining like terms. Think of #m# as apples.

You have #-8# apples #+ 8# apples, therefore that would equal #0#.

You have still one apple left and #2#, so

#m+2#

You can only add and subtract like things, e.i you can't add #2# apples to #5# oranges and say you have #7# oranges, that's impossible.

This is the same concept.
