# How do you draw a primary alcohol?

$R C {H}_{2} O H$ is the generic ${1}^{\circ}$ alcohol.
Methyl alcohol is usually a class apart, but a primary alcohol is so designated when the ipso carbon bears 2 hydrogens. Neopentyl alcohol, ${\left({H}_{3} C\right)}_{3} C \left(C {H}_{2} O H\right)$ is a primary alcohol by this definition, but the alcoholic function is encased by so much shrubbery that this alcohol is quite inert.
