# How do you factor xy² − xz²?

$x {y}^{2} - x {z}^{2} = x \left(y + z\right) \left(y - z\right)$
Using the difference of squares formula ${a}^{2} - {b}^{2} = \left(a + b\right) \left(a - b\right)$
$x {y}^{2} - x {z}^{2} = x \left({y}^{2} - {z}^{2}\right) = x \left(y + z\right) \left(y - z\right)$
