Finding $1/10$ of a number is the same as dividing it by $10$ .

To find a tenth of something simply multiply it by $1/10$ and then simplify. That will be a tenth of it:

$20$ can be put over $1$ , since anything divided by $1$ is itself. So do that and multiply:

$1/10 xx 20/1 rarr 20/10 rarr 2$

Here are a couple more examples:

$1/10 xx 45/1 rarr 45/10 rarr 4.5$

$1/10 xx 896/1 rarr 896/10 rarr 89.6$

So as you can see, all you have to do is divide the number by 10 and you've found one tenth of it.
