# How do you find percent change?

Nov 29, 2016

See explanation.

#### Explanation:

I assume you have 2 measurments start - ${x}_{s}$ and finish - ${x}_{f}$.

To calculate the change you use this formula:

## c=|x_f-x_s|/x_sxx100%

Example:

Let's say that a temperature changed from $300 K$ to $330 K$. To calculate the percent change I use the formula:

c=|330-300|/300xx100%=30/300xx100%=1/10xx100%=10%

From these calculations we see that the temperature change (increase) is 10%
