# How do you find the x and y intercept of y=-3x-5?

Jul 4, 2017

Use $x = 0$ and $y = 0$
$x -$intercept ($y = 0$):
$0 = - 3 x - 5 \to 3 x = - 5 \to x = - \frac{3}{5} \to \left(- \frac{3}{5} , 0\right)$
$y -$intercept ($x = 0$):
$y = - 3 \cdot 0 - 5 \to y = - 5 \to \left(0 , - 5\right)$
