# How do you multiply (3(x-6))/5=(3(x+2))/6?

May 9, 2015

1) Multiplying the terms within brackets:

$\frac{3 x - 18}{5}$ $=$ $\frac{3 x + 6}{6}$

2) Cross multiplication:

$\left(3 x - 18\right) \times 6$ $=$ $\left(3 x + 6\right) \times 5$

$18 x - 108 = 15 x + 30$
$3 x = 138$

$x = 46$
