How do you simplify -10div5*2+8*(6-4)-3*4?

Apr 14, 2015

We use the PEMDAS rule to simplify the above expression

$- 10 \div 5 \cdot 2 + 8 \cdot \left(6 - 4\right) - 3 \cdot 4$

We solve the Parentheses first

$= - 10 \div 5 \cdot 2 + 8 \cdot 2 - 3 \cdot 4$

We then Multiply/Divide whichever comes first

$= - 2 \cdot 2 + 8 \cdot 2 - 3 \cdot 4$

$= - 4 + 8 \cdot 2 - 3 \cdot 4$

$= - 4 + 16 - 3 \cdot 4$

$= - 4 + 16 - 12$

We then Add/Subtract whichever comes first

$= 12 - 12$

$= 0$
