# How do you simplify (14a^2b + 35ab^2) / (7ab)?

All the terms in the numerator (i.e. on top) are divisible by the denominator $7 a b$, so just divide through to get $2 a + 5 b$.

Taking it a little slower:

$\frac{14 {a}^{2} b + 35 a {b}^{2}}{7 a b} = \frac{2 {a}^{2} b + 5 a {b}^{2}}{a b}$ (dividing through by $7$)

$= \frac{2 a b + 5 {b}^{2}}{b}$ (dividing through by $a$)

$= \frac{2 a + 5 b}{1}$ (dividing through by $b$)

$= 2 a + 5 b$
