PEMDAS tells us multiply first then add then subtract

Step 2 :
Equation 1 becomes:
We will leave the #9# out
#-3xx (2+6)# (Note the negative sign in front of the #3#)

This equals #-6 + -18# which is #-24#

Next we bring the #9# back to get #9-24# which is #-15#

Step 3:
Equation 2 becomes:

This time we leave the #6# out:
