# How do you solve .05 + 10 = .06(x + 50)?

Apr 3, 2016

Just another way of doing the same thing

color(blue)(x=117 1/2

#### Explanation:

If I can avoid it I do not like mixing decimals with whole numbers.

To 'get rid' of the decimals multiply everything by 100

$5 + 1000 = 6 \left(x + 50\right) \text{ }$

$1005 = 6 \left(x + 50\right) \text{ }$ Multiply out the bracket

$1005 = 6 x + 300$

$6 x = 1005 - 300$

$6 x = 705 \text{ }$Divide both sides by 6

$x = \frac{705}{6} = 117 \frac{1}{2}$
