Just another way of doing the same thing

If I can avoid it I do not like mixing decimals with whole numbers.

To 'get rid' of the decimals multiply everything by 100

#5+1000=6(x+50)" "#

#1005=6(x+50)" "# Multiply out the bracket

#1005=6x+300#

#6x=1005-300#

#6x=705" "#Divide both sides by 6

#x=705/6 =117 1/2#
