# How do you solve 1/4 + 1/6= 1/x?

May 30, 2015

Given $\frac{1}{4} + \frac{1}{6} = \frac{1}{x}$
If you multiply everything by $12 x$ to get rid of the fractions:

$\frac{12 x}{4} + \frac{12 x}{6} = \frac{12 x}{x}$

$3 x + 2 x = 12$

$5 x = 12$

$x = \frac{12}{5}$
